There is only One Head of the Body of Christ

Seven Steps to Completeness

Principle #6 - Jesus the Universal Head of the Church - Part 1

As I type this message, I sense the principalities poised and roaring with hatred and contempt. They are powerless. May the reading of the Word of God MAKE you free.indeed.

Ephesians 1: 22

22And He has put all things under His feet and has appointed Him the universal and supreme Head of the church [a headship exercised throughout the church]

Note: Jesus and none other is the Head of the Church. He and He alone is the Head of the Body of Christ, which is His Body. There is no other man, there is no other woman who shares His Headship and He and He alone exercises His Headship throughout the church. Pause and Meditate. We are Pastors, but we fall under the same subjection as any other Believer. We have different responsibilities and different requirements of us, but we as Pastors are under the same Headship as anyone else.

1 Corinthians 11
 3
But I want you to know and realize that Christ is the Head of every man, the head of a woman is her husband, and the Head of Christ is God.

Note: We all answer to someone whether we like it or not. The Head of Christ is God. Christ is the Head of every man. The head of a woman is her husband. The head of woman is her HUSBAND and not every MAN. If a woman is not married who is her head? Her head is Christ. In spiritual things, who is the head of the woman? The head of the man (male/female/spirit is Christ)

Colossians 1:

18   And he is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all things he might have the preeminence.

Note: This scripture speaks of Jesus Christ. He is the beginning. He is the firstborn of the dead. He is our forerunner and He is the very FIRST of His own Body. When I was a child, I made sure that my older brother ran through the woods ahead of me. If I heard him yell, "OUCH", I knew that the sticker bushes got him. He usually parted them for me so that I could journey safely through. Jesus did the same for us.

Ephesians 5:

21Be subject to one another out of reverence for Christ (the Messiah, the Anointed One).

Note: What! I should subject and submit myself to another mere Christian? What! I am a Pastor, a Prophet, an Apostle. How dare you. They must subject themselves to me! No, I reverence the CHRIST in each Believer because in us all lives the Godhead by the Holy Spirit. Pause and Meditate.

22Wives, be subject (be submissive and adapt yourselves) to your own husbands as [a service] to the Lord.

Note: Wives are to practice, pray for and seek God on how to please their husbands daily. What is it that I can do, to please him. This is a service to the Lord. Do this as unto the Lord and not unto man. In doing so you will not do this service for the husband's response or withhold it due to a lack of response.

23For the husband is head of the wife as Christ is the Head of the church, Himself the Savior of [His] body.
24As the church is subject to Christ, so let wives also be subject in everything to their husbands.

Note: Is the Church subject to Christ or is the Church subject to religious leaders. Remember, we are Pastors! The Church, you and I, apart from any office or calling MUST be subject to Christ. The Word of God says that we are to follow leaders as THEY FOLLOW CHRIST.

25Husbands, love your wives, as Christ loved the church and gave Himself up for her,
26So that He might sanctify her, having cleansed her by the washing of water with the Word,
27That He might present the church to Himself in glorious splendor, without spot or wrinkle or any such things [that she might be holy and faultless].
28Even so husbands should love their wives as [being in a sense] their own bodies. He who loves his own wife loves himself.
29For no man ever hated his own flesh, but nourishes and carefully protects and cherishes it, as Christ does the church,

Note: Husbands search out and imitate the good things that Christ does for the Church. Nourish, Protect and Cherish your wife.

30Because we are members (parts) of His body.
31For this reason a man shall leave his father and his mother and shall be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh.
32This mystery is very great, but I speak concerning [the relation of] Christ and the church.

Note: Daily, husbands and wives should learn and do what pleases their mate. Daily we all must learn and do what pleases Christ.

To be continued.
