Who is the Greatest?
Who would you say is today's greatest minister of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. There are certain names that may come to mind immediately. You have become more aware of them because they are more visible as they spread the Gospel through TV, books and magazines. Granted there are many, many great ministers of the Word, but there are thousands more whose voices you may not hear until you get to heaven. Who is "your greatest?" Who is it that feeds you weekly from the Word? Who is it that you can call on in times of trouble? Who is it that you can approach for special prayer for yourself and your loved ones. Why yes, it is your local Pastor. Make it a point to pay special tribute to the one that God has placed as a gift in your personal life and celebrate the gifts in others as well.
1 Corinthians 3 (Amplified)
21 So let no one exult proudly concerning men [boasting of having this or that man as a leader], for all things are yours,
22 Whether Paul or Apollos or Cephas (Peter), or the universe or life or death, or the immediate and threatening present or the [subsequent and uncertain] future--all are yours,
23 And you are Christ's, and Christ is God's.
I Corinthians 3:21,22 documents a revelation that is almost too amazing to be true, "for all things are yours". All things belong to us, because we belong to Christ. We are in Christ. Whether Paul or Apollos or Cephas (Peter), (your favorite minister) or the universe or life or death, or the immediate and threatening present or the [subsequent and uncertain] future--all are yours. The Word of God is ours irrespective of who it is spoken through. Ministries will be judged in part on delivery of the Word, obedience to the leading of the Holy Spirit and purity of heart. Give honor to whom honor is due.
